Weight loss is one topic that generates interest from a large cross section of society.  There are a lot of theories out there on weight loss but the fundamental fact is to keep in mind that the important thing is to lose weight in a healthy way.  The sad fact is the that majority of the fad diets that are popular today give out wrong advise which commonly results in people losing their muscle weight and their body water content.

To lose inches off your waist, fat loss should be the main focus.  Muscles should be preserved as they are necessary with burning calories.  It is important to get on a healthy fat loss programme which will maintain your muscle mass as this is important with burning calories at a constant rate.  Remember it may not be about the number on your weighing scale but it is about the reduction in fat.

Your diet is the first point of call when it comes to healthy weight loss. Your body does find it difficult to recognise what is health food and what is not if your food intake contains a lot of fast foods and processed foods.  It is recommended to have a higher intake of lean proteins, fruits and vegetables.  Remember to take these in moderation to allow your body to acclimatise to eating healthier foods.

Eat for regular meals as this will tell your body that there is plentiful supply of food so the body does not go into starvation mode.  When the body adapts to more regular meals, it will transition into burning more calories again.  It is unfortunate that our eating habits in today’s world results if stalling on metabolism.

Apart from dieting, fat loss will happen naturally if it is accompanied with regular exercise.  Being active plays an important role in losing weight successfully.  It is not necessary of exercise like an athlete in the beginning but exercise enough so that your heart rate is increased for half an hour, for at least four to five times a weeks.  The more you exercise the more you feel the urge to do more.  It will be evident that you are losing weight quicker and getting more muscle definition.

Muscle mass is maintained by gradual strength building and the key to you is to spruce up your metabolism.  Look for weight loss programs that will fire up your metabolism to help you continuously lose weight healthily and naturally.
